You will work with the Conference and Banqueting Operations Manager to lead a team in the successful running of Events across Coworth Park. You will have full responsibility for a variety of Events based all around the hotel from our events spaces, our Spa, The Barn Restaurant or even on our Croquet lawn or wild flower meadow.

  • To meet and discuss details and arrangements of private functions
  • To entertain clients according to the demands of the situation and as required in the conversion of business subject to Policy & Procedures and authorisation
  • To regularly follow up and persuade client enquires to utilise the hotel facilities
  • To work closely with the credit/accounts department and sales team
  • To offer advice and participate with clients menu tastings often with the Chef
  • To ensure all details discussed with the client relating to the function is clearly documented on the individual Banqueting Event Orders
  • To communicate on a regular basis to all members of the department, ensuring the details relating to the functions are understood and maintained. Create a close working relationship with all members of the department including the Chef and Dispense Bar to maximise the efficiency of the department
  • To continuously check on a personal basis that the room set up standards are adhered to
  • To co-ordinate and supervise Banqueting staff engaged in the preparation of function materials, room set ups including table laying and the clearing up of the room after a function.
  • To co-ordinate assigned function requirements with the Banqueting Chef, Stewarding Department and Dispense Bar to ensure all items relating to the function, food and beverage equipment are understood and available when required.
  • To ensure all additional function requirements that are supplied by other hotel departments such as Housekeeping and Engineering are understood and available when required.
  • To maintain a close working relationship with the Banqueting Office and Executive Chef to ensure that all details of each function are clearly understood and that any last minute changes are regularly passed on to maximise efficiency and standards
  • To ensure that table service requirements and special menu requirements are passed to the Banqueting Chef at the earliest opportunity prior to each function
  • To ensure that function briefings are carried out prior to each function to all staff concerned
  • To liase personally on a regular basis and assist whenever required direct with the function organiser in any area that will help with the smooth running of the client’s function. This task may also involve the suggestion of food, beverage and their service
  • To complete all necessary report forms relating to the function according to the Banqueting Manual and any incidents that occurred during the event according to hotel policy and procedures
  • To prepare function bills after each event to be passed to control audit. To check that all casual record cards and payment sheets are correctly filled in and passed on to the relevant department, promptly according to hotel policy
  • To attend banqueting operations meetings on a regular basis to discuss functions.
  • Always to be available at the end of an assigned function to assist the organiser of the event with any last requests. To be the last person to leave the banqueting room after inspecting the area for any damage or lost property, ensuring that room is left reasonably tidy and lights and air conditioning are switched off.
  • Responsible for making sure that all Casual staff assigned to functions, sign the sign-in sheets which will eventually be passed to payroll.
  • To check the grooming and presentation of all casual staff attending a function with the Head Waiter assigned to it. The general appearance of all banquet service staff must conform with the highest standards as set by the hotel management.
  • To ensure that all banqueting staff are disciplined and respectful towards the hotel and its guests and that the employees are conversant with all relevant aspects of the disciplinary system and act according to Policy and Procedures.
  • To be responsible for and assist with the on-going skills training of all banqueting service staff to conform with the highest standards as set by the hotel management. This also includes relevant aspects of fire and health and safety policies.
  • To assist with maintaining good staff relations and the continuous motivation of staff through regular staff meetings which include menu briefings before each function.
  • To be the main contact between Banqueting and Housekeeping/Laundry Departments in maintaining the highest possible standard of appearance and cleanliness of all casual uniforms.
  • Previous Events/Banqueting experience in a similar position in a 5 star hotel/environment
  • Hospitality qualification e.g. Hotel Management Diploma
  • Training skills such as CTA and/or GTT
  • Business Acumen
  • Passion for food and wines with sound beverage and culinary knowledge
  • Clear understanding of F&B processes and best practice
  • Desire for delivery of high quality service and standards
  • Excellent presentation and organisation skills
  • Able to work full time and flexible to meet shift pattern
  • Fluent written and verbal English
