With an annual turnover of £22 million, this award winning Conference & Banqueting business boasts three diverse training and conference centres and hosts over 7,500 successful conferences with over 165,000 delegates every year.   These high volume centres operate 7 days per week and cater for a wide range of client events. The food operation serves everything from banquets for 400 people to intimate fine dining dinners for two guests. 

The Centres are entering an exciting new phase and want to take their already award-winning food operation to the next level.

We are working closely with this organisation to recruit an Assistant Manager for Conference & Banqueting.  You will be responsible for managing the operations and continued development of the food and drink elements for all the conference business.  

To be successfully selected for interview for this Assistant Manager role, you will need to have previous management experience in a conference operation of a similar size. This role requires flexibility, excellent customer service skills, a desire and enthusiasm to work hard within this diverse and challenging business. You will have previous experience in staff recruitment and a proven track record of managing and developing a large team of staff.

The role is operational as well as being key in supporting the Venue Manager in the organisation and planning of the conference and events business throughout the year  to ensure the ongoing development of the conference and internal business.

You will demonstrate a real understanding of achieving and maintaining food quality through effective departmental budget management and above all have a genuine understanding and desire to deliver excellent service. 

Essential requirements for the role include:

•    Experience of working in similar large scale conference and events operations
•    Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
•    Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
•    Proven experience of recruiting, training and managing large food & beverage teams
•    Sound IT knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and hospitality booking systems
•    Flexibility in working hours
•    Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
•    A full clean driving licence which has been in force for at least one year

Please note, flexibility in working hours which will include evenings and weekends are key.  The hours for this position are 36.5 and any over time will be paid or given back as time in lieu.
