We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, passionate and excellent craft skilled Sous Chef or Second Head Chef who would like to take the opportunity to assist the Head Chef in managing a large and busy site in Hatfield, Herefordshire.

You will be cooking for the colleagues on site who love to enjoy delicious food that is as fresh as it is creative. We pride ourselves on offering a food service that is second to none. This is a great opportunity to join us working day time hours, so no more unsociable hours! Reporting to our Head Chef and working alongside an amazing brigade helping to bring the best food trends and fashions to our customers on a daily basis.

Main responsibilities
  • You will work alongside the Head Chef, supporting with the daily menus and that are always planned for the following day
  • In the Head Chefs absence, have full responsibility for the kitchen and team
  • Ensure smooth running of the kitchen to produce 3 good services a day
  • Responsible for keeping customer satisfaction high and improve scores
  • To check and sign all HSE records
  • Ensure the entire kitchen team are trained and up keeping with Compass Group and the clients HSE standards audits
  • Communicate and plan with night shift daily to ensure both shifts are on the same page
  • To ensure all new starters and agency receive proper induction and sign induction sheet to confirm they have understood
  • To lead pre service briefings and keep up communication with all staff
  • Assisting client with any kitchen queries and communicating about fluctuating customer numbers
Ideal candidate
  • Passionate and aims to cook to the highest quality freshest food possible
  • Good motivator and able to work well within a team
  • IT literate
  • Have excellent culinary skills with great attention to detail
  • A creative thinker with sound knowledge of the latest food trends and fashions
  • Have sound knowledge of hygiene, health and safety requirements
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • A team player with experience of supervising a team within a similar environment
  • You will have Qualified to NVQ level1/2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent
