Role: Head Chef

Location: Stowlangtoft Hall Nursing Home, Bury St Edmunds, IP31 3JY

Hours: 4 days per week – min 36 hours, but additional hours could be made available.

Shift timings: 7am to 3pm

Rate of pay: £10.75 per hour (all breaks are paid)

Our Catering Team

As a Head Chef, you are fundamental to the smooth running of the home every day for our residents.  With experience of providing first class food and hospitality, ideally within a care home environment, you will be passionate about food, understand the importance of good nutrition and want to drive your team forward to ensure your kitchen is run efficiently and safely.

Reporting to the Home Manager, you will ensure that you lead and inspire your team, promoting high standards of cleanliness and an eye for detail.  You will feel comfortable in ordering and managing stock, managing rotas for your team and ensuring the kitchen is providing great quality food at all times.

The skills you’ll need

As a qualified chef, or qualified by your evident experience, you will have experience of creating tasty and nutritious meals that are required by our elderly residents.  You will be confident in planning meals and understanding specific dietary requirements.  You will be able to manage your team and their rotas effectively.  You will have good written and oral communication skills and be able to understand how to order to get best value for money for the company. You will have an excellent attendance record and take a proactive approach to driving up standards.
