Main responsibilities

Reporting in to the Client Accounts Director for the Department of Health contract, you will be responsible for leading the accounts team to drive compliance within their particular areas. You will collaborate with Foodbuy colleagues to ensure we are delivering on the agreed strategy within agreed timescales. You build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, at an operational and strategic level to promptly understand our clients’ needs and deliver business proposals that meet their requirements and further our strategic intent to be the biggest food procurement provider in Europe by 2020. In addition, you will support the overall Account Director in developing and maintaining relationships across the contract. You will be required to talk comfortably with clients about their sourcing requirements in order to challenge what they are buying to ensure we are driving optimisation and value, you will conduct regular business performance reviews against targeted levels of spend and compliance to ensure we are increasing volume and demonstrating the savings required to trigger our profit.

Ideal candidate

With a passion for food and a passion for delivering an excellent service you will have previously worked within a senior account management role where you have demonstrated the ability to develop accounts, generate new business, build strong and lasting relationships and implement formal retention strategies. You will have previous experience of managing remote teams and you will have a passion for people development.  Experience of managing clients within the public sector, ideally the NHS, an understanding of OJEU framework and procurement would be highly advantageous.  You will demonstrate the ability to work cross-functionally with the knowledge and gravitas to influence, engage and challenge internal and external stakeholders. An understanding of buying and the food supply chain would be great but this is not essential.
