We are seeking to appoint an experienced Cleaning Team Leader to support both the Cleaning Operations Manager and Deputy Cleaning Manager in leading a team of people to manage the growth and profitability of an ESS Contract, whilst ensuring the needs and expectations of all stakeholders are met.

Main responsibilities

  • To assist in holding regular team meetings, 1:1 performance and development reviews and take steps to proactively address individual and team performance issues in line with company guidelines
  • To ensure cleaning teams are trained to a high standard to ensure they have the required skills to do their jobs safely and well
  • To co-ordinate staffing levels by actively communicating to line management so to enable proactive addressing of any staffing issues through efficient use of resources and labour scheduling
  • To deliver a service, encompassing quality and presentation that exceeds expectation and implement offers in line with company standards
  • To conduct Daily, Weekly, Monthly and structured cleaning audits to ensure quality and to prevent failure of KPIs
  • To adhere to both legislative and company standards regarding Health & Safety including COSHH and ensure compliance in all areas
  • To understand the requirements of all scheduled aspects of the cleaning contract provision of services
  • To understand the required monthly levels of stock ordering and stock control and to lead and co-ordinate the teams expectations with regards to stock levels
  • To work with line management to role model the ESS Way values and behaviours at all times to colleagues, customers & clients
  • To work with line management to ensure the team are engaged and managed effectively to achieve their performance targets and the ESS Way Management promises are delivered
  • To work with line management to manage the team in line with company procedures including formal performance management processes & disciplinary investigations as appropriate
  • Ensure the team are both trained and are following the One Best Way processes
  • To have the ability to delegate and instruct members of the cleaning team
  • Ensure an up to date working knowledge of Agilysys
  • To work with line management in recruiting the right people, developing the skills and knowledge of the team to do a great job, enabling opportunities for progression
  • Be flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your Line Manager
Ideal candidate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of COSHH legislation including COSHH risk assessments
  • Operational experience in leading and co-ordinating a team
  • Good numerical and written skills
  • Able to speak and understand English
  • IT literate
  • A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with line management, motivate and develop team members
  • Level 2 Health & Safety qualification
  • An enthusiastic individual with a passion for delivering an excellent service
  • Educated to a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent


  • Working knowledge of Agilysys
  • City & Guilds NVQ level 2 and or BICs Practitioner
