Electrician/AC engineer

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 Van, CCC, mobile phone, tools, training opportunities, occasional overtime, and holiday pay provided.

Location: Brighton.

Main responsibilities

You will be experienced, able and qualified to carry out PAT testing of appliances and leads, leading up to full test and inspection, completing minor electrical repairs and installation’s, carry out servicing/repairs to AC systems, plus responding to emergency breakdowns at a number of schools and buildings in the local area.

The right candidate would also be expected to be able to work as part of a small team as well as unsupervised, so proven knowledge and use of initiative is essential.

The role occasionally requires out of hours working, a willingness to travel to other sites may be required from time to time, all accommodation and travel expenses will be covered. Long term continuing work for the right candidate.

Ideal candidate

Minimum Requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Full driving licence held for 12 months
  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2391/2394 & 2395 combined
  • IEE 17th Edition Electrical Regulations Certificate.
  • AC qualification/experience
  • Level 2 & 3 Technical Certificates complete with relevant NVQ Level 3
  • Minimum of 5 years' post apprenticeship experience
  • You must understand H&S in the workplace
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • To be able to meet the physical requirements of the role
  • Good computer literacy, of the Microsoft office suite of products
  • IT skills of the Microsoft office suite of products
  • To promote a safety culture and operate in accordance with company and client Health, Safety & Environmental procedures at all times
  • To comply with any reasonable requests made by your Line Manager.
  • Sound technical understanding of M&E systems including PPM, Reactive Maintenance and Fault Rectification.
  • A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with colleagues & clients.

Desired Qualifications:

  • IPAF
  • PAT
  • Previous Responsible Person, Authorised Person or Competent Person M&E experience.
  • Current LV Authorised Person Training competent.
  • Current Working at Heights Authorised Person Training competent.
  • IOSH Certificate or Diploma in Health & Safety or willing to work towards.
  • H&S in the workplace
  • Current Working at Heights Authorised Person Training competent.

It is essential that you have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with other contractors and the customer, and that you remain professional and polite at all times. You will need to the ability to think quickly, prioritise tasks and work well under pressure, and you must adhere to onsite Health & Safety regulations.
