We have a brand new job for an ambitious Head of Catering to join the LNER (London North Eastern Railway) customer experience team. We need someone who can deliver a world-class catering experience through strategic leadership with an ability to provide vision and direction across the business. You’ll be able to motivate, inspire and develop both in-house teams and partner service providers to exceed the demands of all stakeholders & most importantly our customers.
Finally, you’ll have overall responsibility for managing supply chain & EPoS contracts, ensuring they deliver operational excellence and support the profitability of the business along with acting as the Professional Head of Food Safety for LNER.
There is a huge amount of opportunity here at LNER. This new role will be responsible for managing the development and delivery of new catering products and menus, contributing to the creation of an innovative and exciting product offer across the catering operation whether, First Class (including lounges), Trolleys or Cafe Bar. This will be done through entrepreneurial and commercially rigorous approach to drive revenue generating initiatives and reducing cost through effective control and challenge of contractors and internal suppliers. You can introduce new opportunities that maximise revenue and in turn ensure that the catering function delivers a positive financial and reputational contribution. You’ll have the chance to lead the management of catering contracts and equipment provision to ensure robust and consistent operation of the catering supply chain.
You’ll also have an excellent commercial understanding through the management of cash control, reconciliation and catering audit activities, ensuring effective management of financial risk across the catering operation, including developing and delivering action plans to minimise that risk.
Here’s where your challenging nature & influence comes in... You’ll offer specialist expertise in order to lead with the delivery of complex operational projects and analyse highly complex data to support and inform operational decision making. Working alongside key business stakeholders across the Company to ensure operational activity contributes toward the business strategy, to include the management of the annual catering budgets to ensure cost control, revenue generation and value for money.

We need you to be enthusiastic, confident and capable proven experience in motivating, leading and developing agile, cohesive teams to deliver consistently high quality, customer focussed services within the hospitality environment.
Experience of managing complex retail catering, hospitality, conference & events organisations or high street operations, preferably with multi-unit, multi- site experience, with a sound track record of recognising and implementing successful business development opportunities would be great.
You would need to posses excellent marketing skills (POS and Social Media) and experience of delivering a strategic plan and measurable KPI’s within a service led organisation, with timely delivery of targets and the management of organisational change.
Your in depth understanding of food hygiene, food safety & menu development, along with your commercial awareness & the understanding of a successful impact upon a business will ultimately drive you be hugely successful in the Head of Catering role.
