An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Domestic Bursar by leading the Catering Operation at Newnham College, Cambridge. The Catering Operations Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of high quality meals to the students, Senior Members and staff in College.  This includes servicing major formal College occasions organised by the Principal, Development Office and other Senior Members.   Additionally they must work closely with the Conference Manager to support the delivery of a successful and growing conference activity.

The role will focus on delivering high levels of customer service consistency, and achieving commercial result targets. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of commercial drive and result attainment, with a well-established leadership pedigree.  Experience in the HE sector is desirable but not essential.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 5+ years management experience of (ideally multi-site operations) including busy hotel or complex catering organisations.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning, managing and interpreting financial data and budgets to assess performance and guide decision making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, together with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
