To ensure the safety and quality of products through the development, implementation and monitoring of food safety and quality assurance systems by planning, organising and controlling the sites quality functions.


  • To support and assist the Technical Manager and site teams
  • To carry out routine QA checks at Enfield and Tilbrook
  • To train, monitor, control and co-ordinate QA/QC activities at Enfield and support of Tilbrook
  • Organise training & development of staff
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures relating to Food Safety and Quality
  • Liaise with Customers and External Authorities
  • Assist in the maintenance of full BRC accreditation for the site; maintain BRC Grade AA certification
  • Assist in the maintenance of full Red Tractor accreditation for the site
  • Achieve successful governmental, customer and additional marketing scheme audits
  • To ensure that QA and QC procedures are implemented, audited and maintained
  • To monitor and improve hygiene standards
  • To ensure effective and prompt response to customer complaints and monitoring systems
  • To ensure that customer returns are monitored and investigated as appropriate
  • To liaise with Purchasing Department in matters relating to product specifications and supplier conformance
  • To develop new initiatives to improve standards
  • Maintain and implement the Quality Management and HACCP  system  and maintain all necessary records
  • To carry out testing and tasting of raw materials and products


  • To comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to the role
  • Support Company Initiatives and demonstrate Company Values at all times
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Company
  • Take responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and others whilst at work and to comply with the Company’s policies and legislation

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • A degree or equivalent in a food or science related subject would be highly advantageous
  • Food safety standards certificate / qualification
  • Previous experience working in a food manufacture / food science would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of food quality assurance and quality management systems
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience of liaising with external customers and complaint handling
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative, be flexible and self-motivated
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer literate, especially with Microsoft packages
  • Understanding of health, safety and hygiene procedures
