If so, our Medirest business has a brilliant opportunity for a Finance Manager to join us supporting our 2 Cuisine Centres based in St Albans and St Helens!

Medirest is the specialist healthcare operating company of Compass Group UK & Ireland, providing a full range of hotel services, including staff, patient and visitor catering, domestics, portering, security and reception, at over 130 NHS Trusts and private hospitals. Our Cuisine Centres in St Albans and St Helens are responsible for the production of our Steamplicity Meals which are supplied into hospitals and schools. Steamplicity is a meal delivery system that provides quality nutritious food that meets the requirements of its different types of diners all freshly cooked whilst still offering a wide variety of choice.

Main responsibilities

As our Finance Manager, you will support the Business Director and operational teams in understanding and managing the operational financial performance for the 2 Cuisine Centres. You be responsible for the following areas:

  • Raising journals for business area, ensuring validity of accounting entries

  • Managing Month End Process & producing Monthly Management Reporting Pack

  • Bi-Annual balance sheet review for area of responsibility

  • Accurate costing of products to derive sales prices

  • Support on production costing for New Product Development

  • Produce and ensure accuracy for production forecasting

  • Producing weekly financial performance report & presenting to management

  • Supporting operations teams in understanding financial impact of decisions / new processes

  • Being financial lead in key projects

  • Representing Finance Department at Monthly Senior Team Meetings & presenting top level results

  • Analysis of financial performance highlighting to Business Director key points to be discussed at monthly review

  • Analysis of labour performance against budget/fixed cost, monitor agency and overtime spend

  • Partner Business Director in monthly review process, ensuring financial actions are carried out

  • Support the Business Director on continued growth of Cuisine Centre operations

  • Work with operational teams to prepare annual budgets and forecasts in line with UK and sector guidelines

  • Analysis of forecasts and budgets, highlighting to Business Director key points to be discussed in the reviews. Highlighting key risks & opportunities

  • Ensure revenue and profit movements are clearly bridged

Ideal candidate

To be right for us, you will be a qualified accountant in CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent with proven business partnering experience. You will have ideally worked within a manufacturing or production environment with a good understanding of the operations. You will have skills, experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Qualified accountant

  • PC literate with intermediate to advanced experience on Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder management with ability to build relationships and influence at all levels

  • Demonstrable commercial judgement

  • Strong analytical and systems skills

  • Proven leader with people management experience
