Main responsibilities

As our Business Development Manager onsite, you will be responsible for driving new business and growing accounts for the venue. This role is tasked with building the venue profile in local and national markets by creating and executing an exceptional sales plan. You will be responsible for:

  • Processing enquiries & proposals, providing best value options to customers while maximising sales opportunities

  • Contribute ideas for the Sales and Marketing plan

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of all company marketing initiatives

  • Raise the profile of the venue through local and national marketing campaigns

  • Develop strong working relationships with key members within the team and our client base.

  • Contribute ideas for the Sales and Marketing plan

  • Achieve existing account growth target for local agents for allocated venues and new business target 

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of all company marketing initiatives

  • Participate in local/national networking/sales initiatives and relevant familiarisation trips

  • Be aware of competitor activities & industry trends

Ideal candidate

To be right for us, you will have previous experience and a passion for sales and new business development within the hotel, venue, travel or hospitality industry with a passion for. You will have skills, experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • The role requires an entrepreneurial personality with the drive to succeed and the ability to maximise the meetings and events revenue potential in the venue.

  • You Passionate about hospitality and have a very good knowledge of the Leeds & Yorkshire market.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a Business Development position for a minimum of 2 years ideally in  the C&E industry.

  • A self-motivated individual with a strong desire to work within a sales environment and  you must be a highly motivated pro-active self-starter, with commitment and drive for business development and a knack for relationship building internally and externally.

  • You will work closely with the venue sales team.

  • You will be directly managing a Sales Executive, whose role is based around lapsed accounts and researching new business opportunities.

  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire trust with both clients and colleagues

  • Able to communicate at all levels

  • Possess a “can-do” attitude

  • Creative in thinking and approach, forward thinking to anticipate problems before they arise

  • Able to multi-task and work to deadlines
