Set in 25 acres of glorious countryside, the Royal Agricultural University offers a stunning learning environment on a historic campus which is home to 1,200 undergraduate students. Our Cotswold campus has outstanding facilities, including excellent on-site catering and several bars.
Right now, we are looking for a personable individual with great customer service skills to join us as a Bar Assistant and provide a great service to everyone who visits our bars or attends a drinks reception.
You know how it is when you go to a bar. You want to encounter friendly yet professional staff who take a pride in what they do, understand the need for responsible drinking and have a duty of care to customers. That’s exactly what’s needed here. As well as providing a quality service however, we’ll also expect you to maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and personal appearance too. And, when it comes to cash and stock handling, reporting incidents, putting in maintenance requests or sorting waste for recycling, again, we’ll count on you.
Why work with us, well the variety and balance of bar work for one. One day you may be delivering a champagne reception for a wedding, the next an evening banquet with an army regiment, or serving our student community in the Tithe Bar with a live band. Unlike other bar jobs the work is not every evening, and we ensure a work life balance
To apply, you’ll need to be educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent, with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to follow required procedures and a flexible approach to working hours. A first aid qualification (or a willingness to undertake training to achieve this) is also required, as is the physical ability to lift and move heavy objects. If you have cash handling experience and/or a basic food hygiene certificate, even better, although these are not as important as your desire to provide the very best customer experience, whether it's in our student, function or conference bars, or at a drinks reception.
