Permanent position

Hours as required, principally Monday – Friday with some weekends

Salary is £26k - £28k, dependant on experience.

The role:

A great opportunity has arisen in this high profile contract, which is home to the Lord Mayor of the City of London. Ideal candidate would be someone with traditional City and event experience but not essential a straining will be provided. You will be tasked with helping us deliver outstanding service to high profile dignitaries and guests of numbers up to 400 for a traditional banquet as well as conferences and receptions.

You will always ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department and maintain a professional approach in order to provide impeccable service to a very high standard to our guests, an eye for detail is essential.

Ensure staff are working together as a team. Inspect grooming and attire of staff and rectify any deficiencies. Set up banquet area/rooms, ensuring cleanliness and correct set up of furniture/equipment. Inspect and maintain table set-ups for cleanliness, neatness and agreement with group requirements and Mansion House standards and resolve any problems. Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in this area, combined with a passion for good food and service. You must be flexible, confident, dynamic, an understanding of cost control, food safety and health and safety.

Other skills required:

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Financial awarenessTechnical skills for all function types
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to converse in English for written and verbal communications
  • Ability to write concisely and able to follow specifications
  • You will have already been a Banqueting Manager or similar in a fine dining establishment.
